Chicago Sun-Times Interviews Kirk Jones

The Chicago Sun-Times has posted an interview with Blade: The Series‘ Kirk ‘Sticky Fingaz’ Jones. Well, it’s actually more of a Kirk Jones rambling than an interview. The reporter has a few lines in there discussing the show and Jones, but it’s mostly Jones talking about his role and his life without any specific questions being asked.

While it’s not actually a question and answer interview, it is a pretty good look into Kirk Jones’ life and personality. He talks about how hard it was for him to get the Blade role, his first role in a movie “Clockers”, and how he’s currently single and lonely - just like Blade. He does seem to take the whole “tough guy” attitude a little far, making him come off a little fake in my opinion, but it’s still a good read and provides some good insight for fans of Kirk Jones and the Blade show.

Geoff Johns Episode 6 Q&A

Over at the official Blade: The Series forums, writer Geoff Johns took the time to answer fan questions about the show and specifically Episode 6.

From the Q&A:
BLADEANDBATMANFAN asks - My question is simple: If you could pick ANY comic book character to star in an episode with Blade who would it be - and I mean ANY character from the entire history of comic books, not just Marvel, it can be anyone you choose and why. Just for fun!

GEOFF says – We are still holding out hope for MOON KNIGHT in season 2. Goyer and I have the story already in our heads. So, yeah, even above Spider-Man and Wolverine – Moon Knight.

There’s definitely some great information to be had, though be warned that there is some slight spoiler information on some upcoming episodes. He talks about the possibilites of an all out vampire war as well as future episodes that will focus on specific characters. He also discusses how there will likely be more flashbacks and backstory to help develop the various characters.

It’s a pretty good read so head on over and read the full Q&A.

Jill Wagner Playboy Interview (NSFW)

Playboy has an interview with Jill Wagner posted on their site. Be warned that it’s probably not safe for work as some of the banners show nudity at times.

In the interview they talk to Jill about her guns, the vampire dreams she used to have, and her time on the Punk’d show. Below is an excerpt where Jill talks about the fake blood they use on Blade: The Series.

Playboy.com: Do you get grossed out drinking fake blood?

Wagner: That substance that they’ve got us drinking kinda tastes like something you get in a dentist’s office. It has that minty kinda flavor, but not really. The nastiest part is when you’re biting into someone’s neck, they have this prosthetic. It kinda feels foamy, and sometimes pieces of the foam will come out in your mouth. You get done, and you’re like, this is what I went to college for?

It’s a decent interview with a few new pieces of information for all the Jill Wagner fans out there. Once again, be warned that there is some nudity on the site (though not of Jill). Full interview here.

Spike TV’s Babe-A-Lizer

Jill Wagner with gunSpike TV has section on their website called the Babe-A-Lizer and wouldn’t you know, Blade: The Series‘ Jill Wagner is the first girl shown. The women currently featured are from last night’s Women of Action show. You can also switch the page to display Hooter’s Girls as well.

If you poke around a bit, you might notice some interesting features in the filter menu. You can filter the girls based on breast size, clothing, poses, and more. Of course the whole thing is just plain sexist and horrible - it’s not my fault I can’t stop drooling.

Jill Wagner on Spike TV’s Women of Action

So I forced myself to sit through Spike TV’s Women of Action show last night. I say forced because I normally don’t really enjoy watching shows talk about models and other hot women. Yes, I’m a straight guy and I just said that. I get bored very easily and just watching eye candy doesn’t usually keep me entertained for very long. But, since Jill Wagner was on the show, I figured I should at least watch it so I could post my thoughts.

Actually, the first thing to note about the show is that they did a mini feature on Jessica Gower right before they went to Jill Wagner. Jessica and Jill were the last two women on the show, which was kind of cool to have Blade: The Series bringing it all home. It was odd since to see Jessica partially featured since she isn’t listed as one of the Women of Action on Spike TV’s website. I think they did it to give more exposure to Blade: The Series, rather than actually include her as one of the featured women. She looked a lot more girl next door while being interviewed as she was dressed normal with her hair styled different and a much kinder face.

Jill shooting gunAfter Jessica had her brief moment, they moved right on to Jill Wagner. To me, Jill already had the girl next door look going for her and she had it going on during the show last night as well. They played up her gun collection and fondness of fire arms as well as her down to earth attitude.

It’s always tough to watch shows like this because you never know just how fake the women are. It’s like how you always read about celebrities talk about how they’re always attracted to geeks and nerds, but you never see them with any. The first women in the show last night seemed the same way, but Jill came off a little more real. I still think she was putting on a little bit of a show, but I believed most of what she said and definitely found her laughing at her own jokes entertaining. She talked about how she’s into bad boys with long hair and tattoos, which unfortunately leaves me out.

All in all, it was really just a fluff show with no real meat. Like I mentioned above, I’m not really into shows like this, so take my opinion with a grain of salt I guess. Jill did represent the show well, as did the other cast members that were interviewed.

Reader Question: Where Can You Send Blade Fan Mail?

Alright everybody, I’ve got another question that could use your help.

Sebastian writes:
Where can I send fan mail to cast members?

*update - Sebastian actually did some digging and found the address to send all Blade: The Series fan mail to. I’ve created a separate post for it here.

Short and sweet isn’t it? Well, like I said above, I need some help with this one. I’ve done some digging and have a few places Sebastian and others can go to try and make contact with the Blade cast, but I haven’t come up with anything concrete. Below are the various ways one might go about contacting a Blade cast member. Please leave any other suggestions in the comments section.

MySpace
In a previous post I posted links to various MySpace profiles for the cast members. While I doubt many cast members respond to any MySpace inquiries, it’s worth a shot.

Spike TV feedback form and number
On the official Blade site hosted by Spike TV, there’s a feedback link that fans can fill out to leave feedback on the show. Funny thing is, there isn’t a category for Blade: The Series. There is an “Other” and “General Feedback”, so those are options. Perhaps more viable is the phone number on that form which is 212-846-2560. One might be able to leave a message on that phone number asking for fan mail suggestions.

Official forums cast member thread
Over at the official forums for the show, there’s a cast member thread where fans can post questions that will be asked of the cast members. While the questions usually turn into questions for a site interview, leaving a question there about fan mail might provide a decent solution.

As you can see, I wasn’t really able to come up with much. If anybody knows of how one could go about sending fan mail to the Blade cast, please leave a comment below. Any leads are also welcome, such as contact info for fan clubs.

David Goyer Hints At Future Developments

Comics Continuum has an article posted that recaps most of what Blade writer, David Goyer, had to say at the Blade panel during the San Diego Comic-Con. Goyer talks about his fears before the premiere aired, gives a little overview of where the show currently stands, and then spends some time hinting at future show developments.

From the article:
“One of the criticisms was that Blade was too weak in the pilot, that he would have been able to take those lesser vampires out really easily. You have to understand that the TV show is not the same as the movie. If Blade just mowed down, every episode, a hundred vampires, it would be really, really boring.”

We also get some details about Charlotte, the pureblood vampire that was introduced to us in last night’s episode. Apparently, she’s a 200 year old in the body of a 13 year old and she’s the head of the House of Chthon. I figured she was a high powered vampire with some ties to the House of Chthon, but it seems that it’s confirmed that she’s actually the head of it.

As mentioned above, Goyer also revealed a few future show elements. I’ve listed a few of those below, which could possibly be considered spoilers, so if you don’t want to see something that may give away parts of the show, skip the bulleted list below.

***SPOILERS***

  • Steppin’ Razor returns in a future episode.
  • Other Marvel characters showing up in the series is likely.
  • Goyer, Johns and Dan Truly wrote the season finale together.
  • The 11th episode (written by Johns) will feature a vampire serial killer called The White Prince.
  • A return of Deacon Frost is “not impossible.”
  • A Blade animated series has been discussed.

***END SPOILERS***

I’d suggest heading over and reading the full article (you’ll have to scroll down a bit), though be careful about reading the last half as there are spoilers for this season and next. I actually left off a few of bigger spoilers in my list above, so be warned one last time that the article does contain a few things that could spoil future episodes.

Episode 6: The Evil Within

Recap and Review
With last week’s episode leaving us hanging as Krista submerged into the pool of blood, last night’s episode starts off running and never stops.

Though the build up was on the anticipation of Krista’s experience with the blood bathing ritual, this episode really brushed right by it. A brief dream type sequence showing Krista Boone’s location and poof, she’s awake (of course, she apparently was under for more than five hours, which was some sort of House of Liechen record). I was expecting a more long drawn out experience with an even longer after effect. It was a pleasant surprise to see that they didn’t dwell on the ordeal, though they definitely took the opportunity to reveal a few key elements.

First, Chase’s ex-husband Frederick discovers that being under the blood for as long as Krista was either meant the she didn’t want to help kill Boone or that she was having trouble adjusting to the vampire way of life. When he lets Krista know this she tried convincing him that she had some sort of fling with Boone, and that is why she didn’t want to kil Boone. However, after Frederick discovered an empty vial of serum, I think it’s safe to say he’s definitely in the know.

The second thing the blood bath did was to make resisting the vampire lifestyle that much more difficult for Krista. Her urge to feed and be free like Boone increased significantly after the blood connection. She may still be able to resist temptation, but she’s definitely finding it harder.

After Krista tells Chase Boone’s location, we finally find out Boone’s intentions and why he’s such a problem for Marcus. As I had mentioned in previous posts, Boone’s big weapon is his knowledge of Marcus’ plans. Specifically, he knows about Marcus kidnapping vampires from the House of Armaya. Boone tries to use this knowledge as leverage to get into the House of Armaya. Unfortunately for Boone, Chase, Krista, and a group of vampires from the House of Chthon arrive and kill all the Armayan vampires before the secret gets out. Boone, however, escapes even though Chase believes him dead.

Reminder: Spike TV’s Women of Action Tomorrow

Just wanted to remind all the Jill Wagner fans out there that Spike TV’s Women of Action show airs tomorrow (Thursday, July 27th) at 9 PM. If you still haven’t voted for your favorite Spike TV action girl, you can do it here.

I’m not quite sure exactly how the format of the show is going to work, but I’m guessing they’ll be doing a little backstory on each of the ladies and likely go into a bit of detail on their roles in various Spike TV shows. Jill Wagner is currently only 1% behind first place on the voting, so make sure you cast yours before it’s too late.
