Krista and Marcus Sitting in a Tree K-I-L-L-I-N-G
Well, I doubt it comes as a surpise but Marcus won the latest poll that asked who Krista should end up with. 207 people voted - another great turnout. Below are the final tallies.
Who should Krista end up with?
Marcus: 154 (74%)
Nobody: 24 (12%)
Blade: 18 (9%)
Shen: 7 (3%)
Collins: 2 (1%)
Frederick: 1 (0%)
Boone: 1 (0%)Total: 207
So, Marcus won by quite a large margin. The only real surprise for me was that Frederick only got 1 vote. Like in the previous poll, I really thought he was an extremely popular character, but again, his lack of screen time may have hurt him. I’m also surprised that Boone got a vote, though my guess is that it may have been a joke.
I know a few people wanted me to place Chase on the list as an option. Let me just say that I didn’t do it because I felt she would likely get many votes just because of it being “girl on girl” and not because of any real reasons. I do believe some may have had legitimate votes for her, but I guess I was just playing it safe by not including a potential poll killer.
Anyway, I had been promising that I’d give my opinion on who Krista should be with once the poll was closed. Well… here it is. She should either end up with Collins, Frederick, or nobody. If I had to choose one, I’d go with nobody for sure. I know many people are hoping that Krista and Marcus end up together (well, I guess stay together now), but in my opinion, it would likely kill the show if they remained an item - think about it.
While I love Marcus as a character, he and Krista just can’t end up on the same side. They are the two strong forces in the show (with Blade not really being the strong force we all thought he’d be). If both Krista and Marcus fought side by side, we’d be left with Blade as the only anchor on the side of good while Marcus, Krista, Charlotte, Chase, and countless other “bad guys” went about doing their thing. I also don’t feel Kirk Jones, as Blade, can handle the spotlight. This show is about Krista and Marcus, but it’s about them as individuals fighting their own battles, not them as an item overpowering the rest of the show.
And let’s talk about Krista’s battles for a second. Oh yeah, she started this whole thing looking to kill Marcus because he killed her brother. Sure, she got to see the softer and more honorable side of Marcus in some dreamy flashbacks, but that doesn’t change the fact that Marcus killed her brother. If she goes ahead and forgets all that and stays by Marcus’ side, I will have lost all respect for her.
So, there you have it. While most of you want Krista to remain with the smooth operating Marcus Van Sciver, I’m willing to go out on a limb and say that I’d rather her be with anybody else.
Okay, so maybe not Boone.

Thanks for your insite as always i truly enjoy your postings.
Why are you not interested in a Blade - Krista back and forth relationship. I envision Krista wanting Blade to open up and forcing the issue with several and different inuendos and alluring sexiness and Blade not wanting to let his guard down but having the odd vulnerable moment where he pretends nothing happened etc. etc. Seems like the perfect addition to a solid team.
I can truly see why Frederik would be alluring. A more sophisticated vampire from a “modern” house. The history between Frederik and Chase could prove for some interesting sub plots as well.
Collins on the other hand… why oh why would that be an option for you. I find the character of Collins a little on the dry side and really do not see how he will be of any consequence in the ongoing battle.
I look forward to your continuing thoughts.

Oh and Squirrel.
Wicked Title to this post - took me a little bit to realize the cleverness.
Well done!

Well, Blade is just too dry for me. I can see Krista maybe going for him temporarily, but they need that friction between them for the show to work well. He’s got more of a big brother type of thing going with her right now and that’s just fine with me.
The only reason I mentioned both Frederick and Collins is because they are the two that we know very little about. They kind of hinted at a possible Frederick / Krista relationship and such a thing would really set Chase off. It might also introduce some friction with the House of Leichen and the House of Chthon. Frederick could still show Krista the vampire “ropes” while being a character whose true nature is unknown.
Like Frederick, we know little about Collins. While I’d much rather Krista end up alone or possibly with Frederick, if she had to be with somebody else I’d go with Collins just because of the initial possibilities. Having her break away from both Marcus and Blade, she would have nobody to teach her the ways of the vampire, which might introduce some interesting twists. Collins could also help her latch on to her human side, something she’s completely abandoned as of late.
I really would rather her not end up with Collins though. He’s just my third choice of the list I gave. He pretty much got that decision from me just by being one of the more unknown characters, and as such, may give enough wiggle room for there to be an interesting relationship.
However, I still am much more for her being alone. By alone, I only mean romantic relationship wise. She should eventually get back to Blade’s side, or perhaps break off from everybody and try taking down the vampires in her own way.
