Who Doesn’t Like a Popularity Contest?

Apparently people like popularity contests because a whopping 447 people voted in the latest poll that asked who your favorite character is. If you recall, this question was asked many weeks ago in the first poll here. In those results Krista barely squeeked by Marcus as she held 32% of the votes.

Since then new characters have appeared and others have died off. Also, this latest poll included just about every character from Blade and Marcus to Fritz and Sands. Was Krista able to pull off a repeat victory? Find out below.

As you can see Marcus was able to easily claim bragging rights this time with 32% of the total votes. Not surprisingly, the 5 main characters received the top 5 spots in the results. Krista had a strong showing with 24% while Blade and Chase both had a decent amount of votes with over 10% each. Shen came in just below the 10% mark.

Charlotte was the biggest vote getter for the minor roles with 6%. I thought she would have received a few more considering her strong performance as well as her untimely demise. She had beaten out Shen by a decent amount before, though Shen did have a lot more screen time during the last few episodes.

I was also surprised at how few votes the other minor characters received. I would have thought Frederick and Damek would have easily gotten more than one vote each; I guess the major characters were just too strong.

All-in-all there weren’t any real big shockers. Marcus has clearly become the main fan favorite. Let’s face it, people love rooting for the bad guys.

Yes I would say this poll went down exactly as I would have predicted. The Marcus/Krista relationship has an alarming amount of interest.

I use the word alarming as for me the next season will involve the death of Marcus - I beleive that (similar to the movies) the writers will have to introduce new villians and based on the speed in which this story moves Marcus may be short lived.

At any rate maybe I am incorrect and these five main characters will continue along for many seasons.

I thought Blade may garner a few more votes as well. I think the fan base of this show is much more diverse than the fan base of the movies. Maybe a majority of completely new fans that were never exposed to the movies….having said that I as well truly enjoy the politics and ongoings of the 12 houses and the House of Cthon.

With so many sub-plots available for Blade (i.e. rogue vampires and Marvel introductions) the “soap-opera” can continue for many seasons.

Again looking forward to a positive season 2 announcment.

Just a heads up the the new Marvel Blade comic book comes out today. It will be interesting to see if any of the mythology follows the show, and during what time period it is set.

Wow, I’m surprised at how the votes turned out. I was expecting Steppin’ to get a vote or two, but he’s actually one of the top minor characters on the list.

I find it strange though, how Father Carlyle got a vote, yet Zach didn’t. Carlyle’s only real contributions to the plot are letting Blade know about Cain, and leading the Bad Bloods to Blade.
