New Poll: Which Network Should Pick Up Blade?
With Spike TV dropping Blade, the only real chance of seeing the story play out is if another television network picks up the series. Various cast and crew have said that New Line is still behind the show and is, in fact, shopping around for new networks. As such, this week’s poll asks you which network YOU would most want to see pick up Blade. Again, vote for the network you would most like see Blade on, not which one you think is most likely.
- USA
- SciFi Channel
- TNT
- FX
- G4
- TBS
- HBO
- Showtime
The above list contains the networks I singled out for the poll. I chose the above networks based on what I thought were viable options. I highly doubt a major network like NBC, CBS, FOX, or ABC will pick up the show so I didn’t include those. Likewise I didn’t throw in stations like Lifetime or Discovery since those are clearly not real options.
Remember, vote for the station you’d most like to see pick up the show, not which one is most likely to do it. As such, things to think about when choosing would be how loyal you think the network would be to the show, how good a fit it would be with the current programming, and perhaps specific time slots you could see the show filling.
As always the poll will end next Tuesday in the afternoon.

hmmm… i hadn’t even considered G4. could there be a better network for blade? an obscure show on an obscure network sounds good to me, but i wonder if they have a budget for a show like blade. i don’t think they have any original dramas and i don’t think that’s what that channel is aimed at. but hey, we might be able to get reruns on that network at least. what about bravo as a possibility since they picked it up on the UK end? was that a choice in the poll? Gosh i didn’t even pay attention. well i’m done rambling!

Not SciFi or anyone else who will be horrified that there’s a significant female demographic following the show. Since chicks dig vamps, why not sell it to one of the ‘women’s networks’? Didn’t Xena do well on Oxygen? Or something.

I didn’t really think of Bravo, and as such, I didn’t add it to the poll. I’m haven’t really ever heard of any new, original programming that’s similar to Blade ever show up on the network here in the USA, though perhaps that should have been a choice as well.
Tree, I agree that a network that’s focused mostly on the male demographic could likely run into the same problems as Spike TV, but the SciFi channel has actually played a lot of shows that are much more broad in their appeal. A good example of this is the new show Eureka, which I would assume appeals to both men and women.
When the results are posted Tuesday, I’ll likely post a run down of each network and how they might work with the Blade series. It’s interesting to see everybody’s thoughts on what networks would be best for the show.

Wow, just read about a possible season 2 with a new station… Nice… I have hope again.
I’m not from the US, so I’m not very up-to-date. I downloaded each episode, because it was really great. As soon as the DVD is coming out, I surely will buy it… and hopefully many others too… so we might have a season 2 someday? Would be awesome.

I’m pretty damn disappointed that the show is cancelled (finally got around to watching the great season finale). Anyway, I’d rather see Blade on the Sci-Fi Channel, as it would fit in more with the channel’s programming than USA or TNT. FX is probably too low budget for Blade. Bravo? Show’s not gay enough.
I doubt the show has enough broad appeal to make it on a pay channel like HBO or Showtime, but then again, the excellent Deadwood made it to 3 seasons on HBO.

I would like to see the show on FX, I don’t think the sci fi channel would allow enough blood and gore or sex appeal etc… you know all that stuff spiketv is famous for.

I am so upset. Spike TV had this greatshow why did they have to cancel it!!!. It was soooooo good especially its special effects and action, It was like watching a Sci Fi Movie every Wednesday at 10pm. And they left us with a cliff hanger UGHHHH!!!. SPike Tv shoulld have advertised the show better. Can we start a petition or something to save the show. I would like to see the show come back on the Sci Fi Channel.

I was upset at the way the show ended .If they have a season 2 then who comes back, who doesn’t. If marcus comes back Krista come back on his side. Because it all started by Marcus killing Krista’s Brother and Krista wanted to getback the killer(which was marcus) .Blade is a great TV series ,but that last show was a downer .That was a crazy ending .The cast were great, but who wrote the script in the last show . That ending made no since. The other Show’s were better then the last show

The only thing I will say it won’t surprise me If Blade doesn’t comeback for a second series. Blame the people who wrote the last show .If Blade doesn’t comeback they are the blame. All cast were great .But when you hype up the first show to the last like that , you would expect big in the last show . Krista’s brother was a big key in the SERIES she wanted to get who killed her brother (which was Marcus) .But it ended with her and Marcus .So If the second season did start then who would believe it, because Krista wanted to get who killed her brother, which was Marcus .Marcus came out on top , and a werid ending .Blame who wrote that last show ?I feel bad for the CAST ,they were great, but they didn’t write that ending .

Their might be another reason Blade won’t be back .Now I’m SERIOUS all Show’s know the biggest thing that keeps a show on is from the rating’s Fan think . I feel the first 12 script’s had a high rating . People love it and can’t wait to see how it end’s .I am sure a lot of people watched the ending .The rating’s were high in the last show, but when the ending ends so bad so did the rating’s. I feel Blade would have gotten a Award If it ended on a high rating’s . I really feel sorry for the CAST that Show was better then I thought . But that ending was so down, and I know at least 15 other people who feel the sameway . ( RATING’S ARE BIG )
Comment by Terry — October 16, 2006 @ 3:43 pm
They forgot this was only Blade’s 1st Series .So it should have ended high .I think Blade would be back If the SEASON ended with Marcus dead and Krista ended alive .And that girl who was dead .Krista would bring back to life ,because that girl wasn’t crazy about Marcus .And also the biggest at the end, was one of the Pure Bloods ,who would work together with Krista , and that girl, and also chase would end up working together since Marcus was DEAD .Blade and that other guy would fine out chase and the girl, and a Pure Blood ended alive, working together with Krista .That would have been a great ending. But that other ending was a downer .

Marcus is one of the most popular characters (if not the most popular according to one of the polls here). If he was killed off, the show would almost certainly die off with it. While many were initially disappointed with the lack of emphasis on the Blade character, it turned out that having more emphasis on other characters (such as Marcus and Krista) turned out to be a big draw for those that gave it a chance. To take away Marcus from the cast would be a horrible decision in my opinion.
Comment by Squirrelinabox — October 16, 2006 @ 4:38 pm
Terry, what are you rambling on about? why did you need 4 posts to say you thought the ending sucked and to remind us three times that Marcus killed Krista’s brother? THANK YOU Sherlock, we understood that! The ending was meant to be a cliffhanger for the hopeful second season. the last episode was done excellently, leaving the audience dying to know what happens. Perhaps in the future if you are trying to make a point, try organizing your thoughts before hand. Maybe you should also rewatch the last episode as it doesn’t seem that your really got what was going on.

When I read Terrys *ramblings* I see a fan of the series that was/is dissapointed that we are not having a second season because he wants answers.
The downer he refers to is the fact that we may never see what happens and unlike a movie… we have a beggining, initial incident, climax…. but alas no ending.
I hear you Terry. We can point fingers at many different potential *reasons* why we are not being blessed with a second season (as of yet) but at the end of the day that will not change the fact we may not see how this story unfolds. For many that is a damn shame.
Take care!

FX - since they won’t edit and restrain the script.
