Poll Results: Sticky Fingaz Makes the Grade

The latest poll asked you all what you thought of Kirk “Sticky Fingaz” Jones as Blade. I’ve heard a lot of grumbles from people saying that he was the reason the show didn’t take off and that he was too different from the movie Blade (Wesley Snipes). Well, the latest poll shows results implies that his performance was much better than some of the critics have claimed.

Okay: 55% (76)
Excellent: 32% (45)
Not Good: 9% (12)
Horrible: 4% (6)
Total Votes : 139

As you can see, only 13% of you thought Jones was “not good” or “horrible”. I actually thought those numbers were going to be much higher from what my impression was of the views most fans had of him. I did expect the “okay” choice to be the most popular (and it was what I chose as well), but seeing 32% of the votes go towards “excellent” is actually quite shocking for me.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I loved the show, but it really took a long time for me to get used to Kirk Jones as Blade. It wasn’t all his fault since he did have to follow Wesley Snipes and with much of the writing having Jones as almost a supporting role rather than the focus, it was hard for Jones’ performance stand out. I do, however, think this helped him a lot since both Jill Wagner and Neil Jackson had much stronger performances and had much more interesting characters. This allowed much of the flaws I saw in Kirk Jones be masked, but I do still think he needed quite a bit of work.

If he was the main focus of the show, I probably would have voted “not good”, but since he was kind of in the background for much of it, he got an “okay” from me.

I am pleased with the results of this poll. I think these results would be masked on almost any Blade related site that could acheive the number of voters acheived on this site.

I am always impressed with the # of votes on this site.

This site averaged 249 voters for the polls taken during the 13 episode season run (skewed by an amazing 447 votes for favorite character). If we remove that one poll the average votes during the run were 184.

After the season was cancelled this site is still acheiving an average of 140 voters.

Cudos to the many fans that frequent the site and Cudos to the Series for holding an audience.

I know that this is a small portion of the 1 million viewers that stayed the course but at any event I think its great.

Lets keep on keeping on until we hear confirmation otherwise.

As one of Sticky’s biggest fans in England, I hav neva been so proud of him. Before he became Blade, I alwayz thought to maself how am I gonna make people recognise dis mad, lyrical, extremely well talented Brooklyn native and now I can see he haz made hiz mark in da USA. Very soon, he’ll do da same thang in ma country, tellin by these results. Thanx fo puttin’ up dis poll, it haz made me come to realise dat ma favourite rapper/actor iz a real star.
