New Poll: How Old Are You?

After the last couple hardhitting Blade related polls, I've decided to make this week's poll all about you. With a few hundred visitors coming to this site every day (and a couple thousand during the finale), there's likely to be a wide range ages among the readers. As such, this week's poll contains various age groups (completely made up by me with no significance) that you can select.

  • 12 and under

  • 13-18

  • 19-29

  • 30-39

  • 40-49

  • 50-59

  • 60-69

  • 70 and over

The votes received aren't attached to who you are so there's no privacy issues in case you're wondering. I honestly have no clue what the breakdown will end up being, which is a big reason for my wanting to do it.

When I post the results Tuesday I'll also reveal my age, which I don't think I've done here yet. I will say that it is one of the options above, so you can narrow it down from there.

Poll Results: Who Doesn't Like Angels and Demons?

So the tallies are in and surprisingly (to me at least), it wasn't the pilot or the finale that took home the most votes. Below are the final numbers.

What's Your Favorite Episode?
Episode 10: Angels and Demons: 39% (53)
Episode 13: Conclave: 26% (36)
Episode 12: Monsters: 10% (14)
Episode 1&2: Pilot: 9% (12)
Episode 8: Sacrifice: 5% (7)
Episode 5: Bloodlines: 4% (6)
Episode 9: Turn of the Screw: 2% (3)
Episode 11: Hunters: 2% (3)
Episode 4: Descent: 1% (1)
Episode 6: The Evil Within: 1% (1)
Episode 3: Death Goes On: 0% (0)
Episode 7: Delivery: 0% (0)
Total: 136

Now, don't get me wrong, I loved episode 10, Angels and Demons, but I really thought the finale was going to blow everything else out of the water. I guess Marcus is that big of a draw that a flashback episode revealing his motives can be powerful - it was for me.

I will admit, though, that I voted for the finale. For me it was a great way to wrap up most of the first season while also leaving us with just enough questions to keep us guessing for the (hopeful) next season. Episodes 9,10, and 12 were all at the top of my list and other than episode 9, it seems that most of you agree.

Only episodes 3 (Death Goes On) and 7 (Delivery) came up empty. I think 3 really hurt because it brought up the notion of the asher groups but then the remaining episodes never came back to it. As such the asher storyline, while great and a personal favorite of mine, never became an integral part of the story. I think episode 7 was one of those stepping stone episodes that had to be made to progress the story, but just doesn't hold up strongly on its own.

So besides the actual winner of the poll, the results are very much inline with what I thought. Thanks to all who participated and be on the look out Thursday for the next poll. As always feel free to discuss the results of this poll in the comments below.

New Poll: What's Your Favorite Episode?

Sticking with the whole playing favorites theme, this week's poll asks you what your favorite episode is. I've listed the episodes below with links to my recaps of each so that you can remind yourself what each one was about.

Will you vote for the big season finale? Perhaps one of the flash back episodes? Were the House of Leichen episodes the best? Were the Steppin' Razor episodes even better? I know there's a lot to choose from, and I'm pretty sure it will be a landslide for one episode, but I'm curious to see what episodes you all thought were the strongest.

The poll will end sometime Tuesday afternoon so be sure to vote before then!

Who Doesn't Like a Popularity Contest?

Apparently people like popularity contests because a whopping 447 people voted in the latest poll that asked who your favorite character is. If you recall, this question was asked many weeks ago in the first poll here. In those results Krista barely squeeked by Marcus as she held 32% of the votes.

Since then new characters have appeared and others have died off. Also, this latest poll included just about every character from Blade and Marcus to Fritz and Sands. Was Krista able to pull off a repeat victory? Find out below.

Who's Your Favorite Character?
Marcus: 32% (141)
Krista: 24% (108)
Chase: 12% (55)
Blade: 11% (48)
Shen: 9% (40)
Charlotte: 6% (28)
Steppin' Razor: 2% (9)
Collins: 1% (4)
Glynnis: 1% (4)
Boone: 1% (3)
Thorne: 0% (2)
Frederick: 0% (1)
Damek: 0% (1)
Cain: 0% (1)
Sands: 0% (1)
Reverend Carlyle: 0% (1)
Fritz: 0% (0)
Zack: 0% (0)
Vanessa: 0% (0)
Total: 447

New Poll: Favorite Blade Character - Take 2

Like I mentioned before, I've been planning on doing a followup poll to ask you all again who your favorite Blade: The Series character is after the season has ended. The previous favorite character poll had a great response and I'm predicting an even bigger response this time. Below is the list of character you can vote for.

  • Blade

  • Krista

  • Marcus

  • Shen

  • Chase

  • Boone

  • Charlotte

  • Frederick

  • Collins

  • Damek

  • Thorne

  • Cain

  • Sands

  • Steppin' Razor

  • Reverend Carlyle

  • Fritz

  • Zack

  • Vanessa

  • Glynnis

As you can see, I decided to thrown in just about every character I could think of. I was going to make it the same options as the previous favorite character poll so that we could compare them better, but I figure it wouldn't be fair to include a character like Frederick and not Collins when Collins had more screen time. And then I thought that if I was going to go ahead and include Collins I might as well include everybody so that we can get a more complete picture of the popular characters in the show.

Hopefully I didn't leave out anybody too important. I tried to include everybody with a decent amount of time and/or importance - meaning being a named character with at least a couple episodes under their belt.

I'll be ending the poll sometime Tuesday (9/19) afternoon so be sure to get your vote in by then.

Hit the Road Jack, and Don't You Come Back No More

So, the results are in for the latest poll and with a whopping 46% of votes, Frederick seems to be the character people want brought back for the finale the most.

Who do You Want to See Return in the Finale?
Frederick: 46% (74)
Boone: 25% (40)
Zack: 14% (22)
Cain: 9% (14)
Sands: 4% (6)
Vanessa: 4% (6)
Total: 162

I too, voted for Frederick, as the potential he brings to the plot is enormous in my opinion. He could come back to help Krista and attack Chase, or perhaps he could come to Chase's aid when the time comes. His past is incredibly mysterious, though it's obviously important as he is not only Chase's ex-husband, but the man who turned her. Also, I love the concept behind the House of Leichen, so any representation they have during the finale would be great.

I was surprised to see Boone receive so many votes (25%), as it seems as though his character is a fairly unpopular one. Perhaps most are hoping he returns just to be killed off? I was hoping Cain would receive more votes, as he is definitely my second choice. The asher plotline was incredibly strong and they kind of just abandoned it for the remainder of the season. Maybe having him team up with Blade during the finale would be a little over the top, though I'd still enjoy it. I think Sands and Vanessa were too minor to be considered much, as they really aren't very integral. I think there's a high chance that we'll see Zack during another flash back or two during the finale, just in time to save or confuse Krista.

All in all, I think the votes were about what I thought they'd be. While I doubt we'll see Vanessa or Cain in the finale, there's a decent chance we'll see at least one of the others (hopefully Frederick). Thanks to all who voted, and as always look for the next poll on Thursday.

New Poll: Who do You Want to See Return in the Finale?

As a semi-inverse of last week's poll, this new poll (posted on the sidebar to the right) asks you what old character you'd like to see most in the finale. The characters are all characters that haven't been in an episode for awhile and may or may not make an appearance for the finale.

  • Boone - Vampire serial killer.

  • Cain - Asher leader.

  • Frederick - Chase's ex-husband.

  • Zack Starr - Krista's brother.

  • Sands - Vampire outcast.

  • Vanessa - Woman that carried the liquid.

Now, keep in mind that this poll is asking who you'd most want to see, not who you think will show up. Your favorite may have little to no chance of appearing in the finale, but that's ok. Then again, at this point I think just about anything could happen so all the characters above have at least some chance of showing.

As always I'll post my own thoughts and analysis when I close the polls and announce the results sometime next Tuesday (9/12), so make sure you cast your vote before then!

For Whom the Bell Tolls

The results are in for the latest poll and after 183 votes were cast it appears that many of you are thinking Charlotte may just not make it through these next two episodes.

Which Character is Most Likely to Die?
Charlotte: 36% (65)
Boone: 19% (35)
Chase: 17% (31)
Marcus: 9% (17)
Shen: 5% (9)
Krista: 4% (8)
Nobody: 4% (7)
Blade: 3% (5)
Collins: 3% (5)
Frederick: 1% (1)
Total: 183

As you can see, 65 people (36%) are anticipating an early exit for the evil Chthon Pure Blood. Chase and Boone boht had strong showings with 17% and 19% of the votes respectively. Surprisingly many voted for the main characters with Blade, Krista, and Marcus receiving a combined 30 votes or 16%. I'm not sure if many of those votes were jokes or genuine as I highly doubt any of those three won't make it to the next season. However, there are many cases in TV history where major characters are killed off either permanently or at least temporarily, so seeing Blade killed only to somehow fight his way out of hell to rejoin us may not be too far fetched (though it would be a complete rip off of a certain other vampire show).

Anyway, as for my thoughts, I personally think none of the characters listed above will die. I don't see one of the three main characters dying, nor do I see Boone or Frederick being killed off since they haven't been in an episode for awhile. That leaves Shen, Chase, Charlotte, and Collins. Collins is just starting to be built up, so I don't see him being killed before he has at leasta few episodes with Blade and company under his belt. If Shen died, that'd leave Blade all alone (with Krista not necessarilly on his side and definitely not always around), so I don't see him dead.

This leaves us with the two evil female vampires and of the two I'd say Charlotte would bite the big one. Chase is still too major a character to die off (and she is one of the five main characters listed on the main site). She is that other side of Krista that we love to see and the mystery behind her true intentions is both intriguing and entertaining. A big reason why I could maybe see Charlotte die is that she knows of Marcus' plans. How can the show function with her having that knowledge? The second she tells anybody Marcus is ash. But then again, she did help him with many of his plans, so perhaps she can't get any outside help. Her character is too perfect to be left for just part of season one, and I think the writers know that, so I'm still betting on her making it back next season.

So, there you have it - my vote is that all our characters will survive these last two twisty episodes. Of course, that doesn't mean Charlotte's man-giant Thorne or any other supporting characters will make it.

Thanks to all who voted in the poll. I'll be posting a new one sometime Thursday so be sure to keep an eye out for it! And as always, feel free to post your thoughts in the comments below.

New Poll: Which Character is Most Likely to Die?

With there only being two episodes left, I decided that the new poll should ask you all who you think might be the most likely character to die off before the season ends. Season finales often throw in some big twists and those twists sometimes mean character's go bye bye. I've added just about every character to the poll choices (even Blade), so you should have plenty of options. The poll is going to be closed some time next Tuesday (Sept. 5), probably around 7-8 pm PST, so make sure you vote by then.

Below is a list of the characters you can vote for.

  • Blade

  • Marcus

  • Krista

  • Chase

  • Shen

  • Charlotte

  • Collins

  • Boone

  • Frederick

  • Nobody

While it may seem like most of those characters are regulars that couldn't possibly be killed off this season, remember that other semi main characters were unexpectedly killed. For example; the unfortunately Fritz beheading, the Reverend Carlyle backstabbing, and of course the Steppin' Razor kabob. I doubt Blade has even a remote chance of being killed off, but I wanted to add him just in case. Buffy from Buffy the Vampire Slayer was killed off in an episode, so it could definitely happen here (though once again, I doubt it).

As always, the poll can be located on the right sidebar.

Krista and Marcus Sitting in a Tree K-I-L-L-I-N-G

Well, I doubt it comes as a surpise but Marcus won the latest poll that asked who Krista should end up with. 207 people voted - another great turnout. Below are the final tallies.

Who should Krista end up with?
Marcus: 154 (74%)
Nobody: 24 (12%)
Blade: 18 (9%)
Shen: 7 (3%)
Collins: 2 (1%)
Frederick: 1 (0%)
Boone: 1 (0%)

Total: 207

So, Marcus won by quite a large margin. The only real surprise for me was that Frederick only got 1 vote. Like in the previous poll, I really thought he was an extremely popular character, but again, his lack of screen time may have hurt him. I'm also surprised that Boone got a vote, though my guess is that it may have been a joke.

I know a few people wanted me to place Chase on the list as an option. Let me just say that I didn't do it because I felt she would likely get many votes just because of it being "girl on girl" and not because of any real reasons. I do believe some may have had legitimate votes for her, but I guess I was just playing it safe by not including a potential poll killer.
