House of Chthon Quake Game Level

Quake House of ChthonOkay, so I'm not sure how many of you ever played id Software's Quake computer game, but it actually has a little bit of a connection with the Blade world, specfically with the House of Chthon. The level E1M7 (episode 1 mission 7) was actually named House of Chthon and featured a battle with Chthon himself. The image on the upper left is a screenshot from the level (as you can see, it's a very old game) and you can click on it to enlarge.

While it may not really have any direct relevance with Blade: The Series, it is interesting to see how various legends make their way to many different mediums. In case you want to learn more about Chthon, there's the Marvel Dictionary as well as the Wikipedia reference. I didn't read either site much since I'm afraid of any spoilers, but if you're willing to risk it, so be it.

Blade Cast's MySpace Profiles

Well, after some further MySpace digging, I found that the main Blade: The Series cast members all have MySpace profiles. Below are the links to the profiles.

*update: thanks to reader Mike, I have updated this post to include Jessica Gower's and Geoff Johns' MySpace profiles. Thanks Mike!

*update 2: it appears that Jessica Gower's profile has been deleted. I will update this post if I can find a new link.

Blade: The Series and MySpace

So apparently the Blade television show has an official Blade TV MySpace profile. As I'm writing this, the profile has 3,968 friends. I'm not into the whole MySpace thing, so I don't have a profile to join in, but if you do and you're into the show, you may want to head on over and add yourself.

Oh, and you can specifically join the official NightStalkers (vampire hunters) group or the House of Chthon group if you so desire. If you do join up, it'd be great if you could mention this site.

Episode 4: Descent

General Thoughts and Recap
Well, Blade: The Series keeps up the great work in Episode 4: Descent. Building on the foundations established in the last couple episodes, last night's romp through the Blade universe introduced us to even more potentially important groups and characters.

Apparently with Fritz gone the writers decided to add another potentially main character to the plot, an FBI agent named Ray Collins. Collins is introduced to us as an agent working the murder case that looks to lead him to detective turned vampire Boone. Collins does appear to be setup as a recurring role that may have a much more important impact on the story as he is already near discovering Boone's true nature. If Collins discovers the world of vampires, he may prove to be yet another ally for Blade.

Speaking of allies, Blade's run-in with Cain showed the lengths to which Blade is willing to go to stop the vampire threat. By giving Cain the greenlight to continue "ashing" the vampires, Blade established a tentative alliance with an evil drug dealer in an effort to fight the greater evil.

Comments and Suggestions Welcome and Appreciated

With this site being a little over a week old now, the initial excitement and rush has slowed a bit (which isn't so bad since it was quite hectic with the first couple days bringing in around 1000 visitors each day). Anyway, now that things have calmed down a little, I wanted to make sure everybody knows that I'm completely open to any and all suggestions.

All sorts of suggestions are wellcome. Maybe you think the ads are too intrusive or annoying, or you have a specific category you'd like added. Maybe you've got some good links or news stories to share. Whatever it is, send it on in and I'll promise to give it fair consideration.

Big or small, send your suggestions on over and I'll see what I can do. You can always use the contact form, or just leave some comments on this post. I hope to keep adding to and tweaking the site, and your suggestions will help me in that process so that we can all enjoy this place that much more.

Blade Writer David Goyer Interviewed By TVGuide.com

In case you weren't in the know, David Goyer is the popular writer of many comic book, fanatasy, and sci fi movies and shows, including Spike TV's Blade: The Series. You can check out his filmography to see what projects he has worked on and which ones he has lined up for the future.

TVGuide.com posted up an interview with Goyer last week and he talks about the Blade series, revealing some juicy details you don't want to miss. Main talking points include Goyer discussing future Blade characters (including a few from the movies) and the fact that he has the show on a 5 year plan. He also goes on to talk about future movie projects (with a brief mention of a possible fourth Blade movie) as well as sci-fi and fantasy genres in general.

It's a decent read so head on over to TVGuide.com to read the full David Goyer interview.

Episode 3: Death Goes On

General Thoughts and Recap
First, let me clarify why the title of this post is Episode 3. While there has really only been one episode so far, Episode 1: Pilot, Spike TV is actually claiming the pilot was two separate episodes that were aired back-to-back. I think that's bullshit, but whatever. As such, last night's episode was technically, the third. Anyway... onto my thoughts on the actual episode...

Oh... hell... yes. This episode was exactly what I was talking about in my write up for the pilot. Remember all those cool plot opportunities I saw and hoped they'd capitalize on? Well, Episode 3 touches on a few of those, but focuses on a whole side plot I didn't even think about - the ashers.

If you recall from the first episode, dead vampires leave ash behind that some humans have refined into a type of drug that temporarily gives them vampire abilities. The substance and the people that crave it seem to be much more integral to the storyline than I had previously thought, and that's definitely a good thing. Last night's episode introduced us to the many aspects of the vampire ash drug trafficking trade.

Blade Premiere Sets Spike TV Records

Spike TV put a lot of effort behind marketing the premiere of Blade: The Series and it looks like it paid off. According to Neilson ratings, the Wednesday premiere of the show brought in 2.5 million viewers. That figure makes it Spike TV's highest rated premiere ever.

House of Chthon Glyph

House of Chthon GlyphI've had a few people write in wondering if I could post a picture of the House of Chthon glyph. I'm not sure if it would infringe upon any copyrights or trademarks to post a screenshot of it, so I decided to recreate it with Photoshop.

The image on the upper left is my recreation of the glyph. I'm not sure if it's taken from real vampire lore or if it was created new for the series. If anybody knows where the actual symbol came from, leave a comment on this post so that others can know as well.

Krista's Dream Sequence

This question was from YankeeFan and he asks "There was one point in the show I didn\’t understand. The Last time Krista was talking to Marcus, she asked about seeing her brother in the vision. She says her brother was saying to follow her, and she asks Marcus what to do. He says to keep doing what she has been doing and continue to follow him. Can you try to explain?"

His question as submitted in the comments section, which is where most discussion about specific episodes should be, but my response to the question is quite lengthy so I decided to make an individual post about it rather than answer it in the comments.

Below is the transcript from the first dream sequence as well as Marcus' conversation with Krista at the end of the show. Note that I copied this all down from my recording on TiVo so I may be off in a few places.
