Poll Extended One Week

Since this week is Thanksgiving here in the United States I've decided to extend the current poll a week to next Tuesday (11/28). With many on vacation and busy (me included) I think it's just better to let the poll run an extra week rather than perhaps leaving some people out as well as having to put together a new poll this Thursday.

New Poll: What Subplot Would You Like to See More Of?

Sticking with the hope that there will somehow be a second season, this week's poll asks you what subplot you'd like to see more of.

Ashers
Other Blade Allies
Boone
House of Leichen
House of Armaya
Other Vampire Houses

There's a pretty good mix up there for you to choose from. I tried to stick with just the minor storylines that haven't really been touched all that much. "Other Blade Allies" just refers to learning more about other people and/or groups out there that may help Blade out. We've already seen a few of them such as the scientist and the group that helped Blade rescue Vanessa. The rest of the options should be pretty self explanatory.

Poll Results: A Girl With Some History

I asked which character's history you all wanted to learn more about and surprisingly Chase came out on top.

Who's Backstory Do You Want to See More of?
Chase: 36% (30)
Shen: 23% (19)
Marcus: 18% (15)
Krista: 13% (11)
Blade: 11% (9)
Total Votes : 84

It's interesting that both Chase and Shen were the two top vote-getters when looking at the poll results from the favorite character poll. Marcus and Krista had an overwhelming majority of votes as favorites, but here, they both were surpassed by the two supporting characters.

I think a big reason is because Blade, Krista, and Marcus have all had some backstory revealed already. They have all had some flashbacks with both Marcus and Blade each having an entire episode dedicated to a flashback. Krista has had many shorter flashbacks as well as a lot of history revealed in other ways. This leaves both Shen and Chase with some pretty mysterious pasts.

I, personally, voted for Chase for that very reason. We know very little about her past, and the pieces we do know only seem to ask more questions than answer. We know that Frederick from the House of Lichen was her husband and that he turned her. We know that she now hates him, but not exactly why. We know that she had a thing with pureblood Alex before meeting Marcus, but we don't know what caused her to leave him and end up with Marcus. We know she's ruthless but not why. There's so many questions and it'd be great if we could see some of her origins.

Anyway, thanks to all that voted. I think the results were very interesting. I really do hope we get another season so that perhaps we will finally see what made these characters become who they are.

Blade to Premiere in Europe January 2007

While the show is waiting to be picked up by another network over here in North America, it appears as though Europe will be premiering the show in January of next year. This news comes via Kirk "Sticky Fingaz" Jones' website.

He mentions the United Kingdom specifically so I don't know what other countries will be getting it (though he does say it will air for "other European countries"). Jones goes on to reveal that a new Blade website will launch for Europe that will include new photos and commercials.

While this doesn't really help those of us that have already watched the series, it could potentially help bring back a second season if the European ratings are strong enough. You just never know.

Jill Wagner in Mercury Television Ads

I was watching some television last night and bam, an ad with Jill Wagner showing off a new Mercury car. She was looking good as always.

New Poll: Who's Backstory Do You Want to See More of?

This week's poll asks you to try and pick which character you'd most like to see more backstory of. As you can see from the poll on the right, I've only put up the 5 main characters as choices, so you'll have to pick from those.

So, if we are lucky enough to get a second season, which of those 5 do you think has the most interesting history? Which has some deep dark secrets that could potentially put some even more interesting twists on the story? Do you go with Blade so that we can learn even more about his troubles with becoming a vampire? Or maybe Chase, who's past is still mostly a mystery? Maybe Marcus or Krista, two people who's paths have seemingly been forever intertwined, maybe there's even more to their past than previously thought? And don't forget Shen. We know little of his past, though the last few episodes started revealing bits of it.

There's a lot of interesting things they could do with further backstory on any one of those characters. You're job is to pick the one you'd like to see most.

Poll Results: Elections Schmelections

Today is election day for us here in the United States, with polls taking place all over that may just decide the fate of the country and/or world. While those polls are important if you care about war, peace, the environment, the economy, and health care, I've got much more meaningful poll results to share here...

Are You Getting The Series DVD?
Yes: 84% (62)
No: 5% (4)
Maybe: 11% (8)
Total Votes : 74

Not surprisingly an overwhelming majority appear to be planning on picking up the Blade: The Series DVD whenever it comes out (I still have no new details on the DVD). In fact, only 16% said they weren't going to get the DVD. Since most people that come to this site are pretty die hard fans, the results are obviously skewed.

Now, let me drop a little bomb on you all out there. I voted no. Yup, you read that right, I don't plan on picking up the DVD. I'm not even a maybe. Before you all go grabbing your axes and pitchforks, let me explain why.

You see, I don't watch shows a second time. With movies I can do it, but even then I usually need about a year break between watching the same movie again. Television shows are a one time viewing deal for me. Obviously I love the show, I run an entire fansite dedicated to it (and am still running it after the show has been cancelled).

I do realize that huge DVD sales could potentially influence some networks enough to consider picking up a new season of the show (which would be downright awesome), but I just can't bring myself to buy a DVD set of a bunch of episodes I won't ever watch again.

Thanks to everyone that voted and be sure to check out the new poll Thursday.

Neil Jackson Interview

There's a pretty good interview with Neil Jackson over at FlickDirect. While there's no real word on the future of the Blade series, there's some good info on some of Jackson's other projects as well as what he would like to see if there was a second season of Blade.

From the interview:

What changes would you have liked to see in your character if there was a second season of Blade?
Power is an aphrodisiac, and I would liked to have seen Marcus become obsessed by his own power. He was so calm and collected in the first season, it would be great to see him lose it a little.

What is your role in your upcoming film "The Thirst"?
I play 'Duke', an eighteenth century fop, turned vampire (seems to be a theme here!). I actually shot this before getting Blade, and they had to release me from shooting early one day to make my meeting with Peter O'Fallan for the role of Marcus.

As you can see, he doesn't really go into the odds of whether or not Blade will be coming back. He definitely sounds like he'd very much love to bring out some even darker sides to Marcus - something I think we'd all like to see.

It's also interesting that he's been cast as yet another vampire in a new movie. Hopefully he doesn't get locked into doing only vampire roles (I doubt that this will happen), because he's a great actor and I'd love to see him take on some different characters in the future.

New Poll: Are You Getting The Series DVD?

There may not be much info out there about the Blade: The Series DVD, but it's been mentioned so many times by the writers and cast members that it's just about a for sure thing. Whenever any new information comes out about the DVD, rest assured you'll see it here.

Anyway, what I'm curious about is how many of you are planning on buying the DVD as a gift or for yourself when it comes out. I've given you three choices: Yes, No, and Maybe. It'll be interesting to see how many intend on bringing home the series.
